COSMETIC REMEDY!

image

What do you see in my eyes?
What do you see in my strive and thrive?
Don’t say Hope cuz u have killed the shine on my candle, thinking yours will shine
Why can’t we all peacefully grind?

I look with wonder now
In a puzzle where am neither here nor there
No where cool for everywhere is a pool of sharks
Blood killing blood what more could be said of a stranger

The preacher man seems to have all the answers
The teacher seems to know all the ways to apply them
The student seems to get all the details
The living yet wonders where all the knowledge seems to fit in real life

“A” was for Apple back in class
Tasting so sweet we forgot “A” could stand for Agony away from class
It was a fairy tale ending until Cinder never came back for her lost shoe
The story has been told
But to live it we must rewrite our own story
To stick to folklore of an angelic life only assumes a cosmetic remedy!

SHINNY STONES!

image

The shinny stones
Our greed to unearth more mires our collective social goals
The use to be peaceful earth is unhappy
Always saying welcome to new sophisticated machines in its belly

Our greedy goals
Robbing Peter to pay Paul river Pra suffers a heavy toll
Opoku, Kwame and Awudu needs to be told
Money is sweet but we are yet to live in Mars so let’s protect our home

Earth has been good to us through out the years
We rip food, take shelter and gold but gave it tears
Enemies of the earth we have become for we have buried in its heart fears
Of what becomes our tomorrow if we don’t seize to quench the fire of greed in our hearts

We cannot give what we don’t have
Why then do we incessantly want to take what we haven’t been given?
Innocent blood we easily victimized when they stand against our ill will
We have spilled and dug enough in the name of wealth
We are yet to do and ensure enough for our health, now and beyond

Let’s pick the axe and excavators
To dig deep in our hearts and uproot the seed of greed
Hidden in dip pits is not our salvation but our gradual destruction
We are wealthier as long as we are healthier
We are stronger as long as we are united
We are good as long as we still cry when we are pained
We are citizens of earth so let’s protect our home

IT’S GETTING SCARY!

image

The days have become darker
Streets under the glare sunlight are frightening
Can we even talk about the “lungus”
Where are our screams and yells in victimization falls under deaf ears

The nights are no longer shades to hide our monstrosity
We have become hunters of each other’s sweats
Shameful we tend to hail evil with ululations from gunshots
Planting fear and panic in the hearts of innocent lives

Our innocent soul still suffering under educated looters
Yet to recover from this ill, our beautiful homes have become swamped with shooters
Aks and shotguns running loose like “P.Ks” on the street
And before the hen crows or the frog croaks, gunshots have become our primary alarms

Of the tall tick trees and long rivers that make a jungle different from a city
Or the sanity, peace and tranquility that makes a home an abode to sleep in peace
We can’t even distinguish between a jungle and and home
Evil will triumph for sure, but not until good men turn a blind eye and deaf ear to our woes

It’s getting scarier by the day
For we may one day wake up to a long night without sunlight

LOYAL LIABILITY!

image

Here we are, lying on the pale floor
Counting the years and time we have lost
In the pursuit of a happiness we thought was all to life
We couldn’t read the signs of insincerity in the fake sighs

She was always on time
For she would with beautiful words rip him of his last dime
Not bothering whether its source was from crime
Her needs was at all cost the relationship’s prime

He stood by her in thick and thin
Knowing how to confuse and convince he keeps her tamed
Even has his actions and words makes her lame
Draining life out her with the mirage of being a loyal man

Young and wild we put everything at risk
Hoping for more years even as we sing in painful tears
Breaking the core as we created more pores
In the age of a foundation that we could have done more out life

Perching on aching wounds like the housefly
We claim to be loyal in a manner that only sucks hope out of healing wounds
A friend in need has become a friend we must avoid
For such a selfish loyalty only breeds liability

SOMETIME BE!

image

Memories of the buggy jeans
Of which a dozen of rabbits can seek shelter
We run helter-skelter in the rains
Only to feel the beatings of heavenly waters
On a skin that has longed visited the bath room

Distance was a friend to our hard feet
Drumming the earth in all corners that it can reach
Knowing no tiredness even under the scorching sun
Filled with exuberance that surmounts every mountain on our way

The Afro hair was a hit
For with our combs in hands we feel great
Capturing attention of the damsels in the hood
With a pocket empty only to brag with bushy hair

One step at a time
But using energy over brains we take two
Getting tired in the day deserting our books to decay at night
Learning was a way for the “de bees”
For the hood boy feels “guy” running around Tvs

Canes and knocks couldn’t do any good
For our coconut heads and crocodile skins felt no pain
Papa applying traditional gymnastics
As mama kept singing social ethics
We didn’t pay heed then
But the results we cherish now and forever
